UNIX SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR

 

Our client is looking for a Unix Systems Administrator to support our BLM ITOSS Project. This is a direct, full time position with our company and is 100% remote but local to Boise, ID is preferred.

Position Overview: The systems administrator specialized in Unix based operating systems such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or Solaris. The Unix Administrator shall manage all aspects of Unix based system administration tasks. Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

· Perform and manage the daily operations and maintenance of over 100 Linux and Unix based servers including operating system installation, optimization, integration, troubleshooting, patching, hardening, backup, recovery, modifications, and upgrading of the systems

· Administering Linux Operating Systems: SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES), RedHat, and Ubuntu

· Manage Unix accounts with Centrify middleware for Active Directory

· Monitor and respond to system alerts for administration tasks and remediation

· Contribute to and maintain operations documentation, including configuration data, change requests, installation procedures, knowledge base articles, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), engineering diagrams, and test plans

· Experience with Apache Tomcat is a bonus

· Support application development teams’ requirements involving integrating / installing / deploying applications into the different server environments

Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or technical discipline, OR 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.

· 5+ years of experience performing Unix/Linux based operating system administration in comparable environments (100+ Linux/Unix servers)

· Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively and proactively across a large organization of dispersed teams.

· Must be eligible to obtain security level clearances and maintain the level of security required while performing tasks.
